How to get to Nkob?

Nkob is a small village in the province of Zagora in the region of the Draa Valley, Morocco. It is located about 140 kilometers from Ouarzazate and is known for its beautiful scenery, traditional Berber architecture and for being the village of 45 kasbhas. Reaching Nkob can be a bit of a challenge, but with some planning it can be a fun and rewarding experience.

Here are some ways to get to Nkob:

By car: Renting a car in Morocco is quite easy and affordable. From Ouarzazate, take the N10 south-east towards Zagora. After about 60 kilometers you will reach Agdz, where you will enter the R108. From there, it’s a 60-kilometer scenic drive through the Draa Valley to Nkob. The road is well paved but can be narrow and winding in places. Make sure to fill up before leaving Agdz as there are no gas stations on the way to Nkob.

By bus: CTM and Supratours are the two largest bus companies in Morocco. From Marrakesh take a CTM or Supratours bus to Ouarzazate. From there, take a local bus or shared taxi to Nkob. The journey takes about 5-6 hours and costs about 100-150 MAD (Moroccan Dirhams).

By Private Transfer: If you are not comfortable with driving or using public transport, you can arrange a private transfer from Ouarzazate or Marrakech to Nkob. A large number of  the accommodations in Nkob and travel agencies offer this service and prices vary depending on the type of vehicle and the number of passengers.

By bicycle or motorcycle: For the adventurous traveler, cycling or motorcycling to Nkob can be a fun and challenging experience. The road from Ouarzazate to Nkob is popular with cyclists and motorcyclists and there are several tour operators offering guided tours in the area.

However you travel to Nkob, make sure you set aside some time to explore the village and its surroundings. Visit the Kasbah, take a hike in the nearby mountains or take a camel ride through the Sahara. Nkob is a hidden gem in Morocco and worth getting there.
